ROOTS OF CREATION
Since childhood, Tony Kvale has created many styles of games and puzzles for
entertaining family and friends. An enjoyable hobby to him, game design allows
the blending of creativity and logistics. Witnessing the development of game
dynamics and player reactions are just as stimulating to Tony as the playing of
games.
Including organic foods, herbal supplements, alternative healing medicines, and
natural body care, Tony's career involved promoting natural product choices.
Often considering business ideas to answer an inherent entrepreneurial desire,
many were indeed related to this fast-growing natural goods industry. Within
several notebooks, Tony explored many business ideas that addressed or
developed new trends that shifted mainstream product and service concepts.
Tony also began an exercise in mapping out a "dream job". Taking away all of
the self-imposed limitations, and instead answering his personal passions,
abundant game concepts effortlessly came forward with clear play themes,
flowcharts, dramatic variables, sketches, and desired player reactions.
However, these early blueprints were filed away.
Nearly a year had passed when Tony realized that he could blend his deep
passion for board games with the distinct attraction he had for natural,
principled products. With a mission to produce high-quality games appealing to
wide audiences, and blended with a strong adherence to
environmentally-responsible processes and materials, he formed a truly unique
eco-friendlier brand in Kvale Good Natured Games.
To help design and develop the important visual element of the brand, Tony
presented his company and game visions to Nakota Designs of Denver, Colorado.
After the introductory meeting, Nakota Designs came through with a long-term
strategy that fast secured a partnership.
Tony then began collecting a deep list of game card variables, including
several thousand photographs, for several of his planned games and fine-tuned
logistics for contents, directions, and test outcomes. Meanwhile, Nakota
Designs brought life to the ideas for a company logo to fit the spirited,
playful and natural image. The subsequent art work on Head1Liners, the
company's first board game, was a more sophisticated task. Nonetheless, Nakota
Designs succeeded in casting a mold for easy expansion of the many board games
already in development, including a brand style tied to natural living.
Tony believes there are numerous enthusiasts of traditional board game who will
be first drawn to the popular concepts of the company's planned games. They
will then come to find an appreciation for the impact of responsible
environmental choices. The mission of Kvale Good Natured Games includes
awakening consumers to production measures in reducing, reusing and recycling
(The 3 Rs) that can be adopted by more manufacturers, including those outside
of the game publishing business.
Kvale Good Natured Games are designed for social play at game parties for the
young or old, and the company is consistently approached by teachers
proclaiming the educational values we also offer today's youth. We are pleased
to know we can also make learning a creative and fun experience.
